WISE is Making a Difference: Meet our May Community Partner

For people who often have nowhere else to turn, WISE is there to help.

With its ivy league trappings and bucolic scenery, the Upper Valley seems like a veritable Shangri La—immune to some of the darker sides of modern life.

But the dark sides still exist, including the unfortunate realities of domestic violence and sexual assault. As a result, Women’s Information Service (WISE) is there.

WISE, located in Lebanon, New Hampshire, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping anyone in the Upper Valley who is suffering, or has suffered, from the effects of domestic violence or sexual assault. It is also our May Community Partner.

WISE has served the Upper Valley since 1971. Its purpose has evolved over the years from helping women explore education and career options to its current focus on domestic and sexual violence. Today, the organization works to empower victims of domestic and sexual violence to become safe and self-reliant. WISE serves 25 communities in the Upper Valley area with programs that include everything from legal and medical advocacy to emergency shelter and community education.
